Innovation drives everything we do, and we are thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter: the acquisition of the TelScope range from Holland Healthcare, pioneers in diagnostic solutions. Having been trusted to distribute this award-winning product range, we are honoured to now bring it fully under the One Dental umbrella. This is a significant step forward in our mission to support the dental community with tools that improve patient outcomes while enhancing care accessibility.
TelScope inventor and founder of Holland Healthcare, Jennifer Holland, said, “After years of pioneering oral healthcare solutions, I’m thrilled to pass the torch to One Dental, a company with a clear commitment to delivering excellence.” At One Dental, we are grateful for Jennifer’s ingenuity in creating innovative products and for her involvement during the transition period. We value our ongoing partnership with her, as she shares our mission and values.
TelScope technology has revolutionised how practitioners diagnose and treat oral health issues. By combining superior illumination, retraction and digital imaging capabilities, it simplifies assessments, making communication between providers and patients seamless and effective.
One of the standout features of the TelScope range is its ability to integrate with smart devices, transforming a smartphone into a comprehensive telehealth solution. By enabling real-time image sharing, it facilitates prompt, remote diagnostics— a game-changer for aged care and rural communities where access to dental care can be limited.
The TelScope range supports proactive, high-quality care, from diagnosing oral cancers to managing everyday dental health for vulnerable communities, such as those living remotely or in aged care. This technology is particularly vital in oral cancer screening, where precise visuals are essential.
In aged care settings, the TelScope is a vital part of our Project Gordon initiative. This project equips nurses with the capability to capture real-time intraoral images for remote access by dentists. It also includes Gordon, a training manikin designed to enhance the skills of nurses and carers in addressing the dental needs of residents.
Telehealth and teledentistry have never been more important. They provide crucial access to care for remote communities, bridging the gap for those who might otherwise face barriers to treatment. In a post-COVID world, many individuals continue to stay home when they are sick, making virtual assessments essential for timely medical and dental support.
The potential applications for TelScope devices are limitless, enhancing early detection of various health issues and improving communication between healthcare providers and specialists. For example, they can facilitate remote consultations for children’s dental health, allowing parents to connect with pediatric dentists for assessments and guidance without needing to visit the office. Additionally, speech pathologists can use TelScope technology to evaluate oral function and track progress in their clients.
We are committed to innovation that simplifies healthcare and makes a genuine difference in people’s lives.
Now setting new standards for intraoral examination, this system was inspired by Jennifer Holland’s experience as a mother of four. After facing the challenges of frequent visits for one child’s persistent tonsillitis, she envisioned TelScope as a way to help other parents avoid similar struggles. This innovation aims to allow routine healthcare challenges to be addressed more efficiently.
The TelScope Telehealth System pairs with an intuitive app to deliver crystal-clear intraoral images, making it ideal for a range of settings—from busy dental practices and rural clinics to emergency departments, school health offices, urgent care facilities, or even tired, busy parents at home.
The Throat Scope is a simple yet transformative tool for examining the throat and oral cavity. It’s a must-have for clinicians seeking to simplify sore throat assessments and oral cancer screenings. Designed with a lighted tongue depressor, the Throat Scope enhances comfort and efficiency, offering an affordable alternative to traditional fibre optics.
The Throat Scope was the first product Jennifer Holland developed, inspired by a visit to the doctor with her then 15-month-old son. Today, it remains an invaluable aid in paediatric care, ENT clinics and routine GP consultations.
The Ear Scope is an illuminated intra-aural device that provides a comprehensive ENT screening solution for medical professionals. Inspired by Jennifer’s experience with her child, who had grommets and frequently suffered from sore ears, requiring several doctor visits.
After four appointments, they ended up at an ENT specialist, who discovered that a grommet had fallen into her child’s ear canal and formed a growth that required surgical removal. This experience made Jennifer realise that traditional otoscopes only provided a single beam of light, leading her to envision a device that incorporated transparent plastic into a speculum to ensure complete illumination inside the ear.
“We are incredibly proud to bring the Holland Healthcare Scope range under the One Dental umbrella. These devices have set a new standard for oral health tools, and we’re excited to extend their reach into even more communities.” – Joanne Stanbury, One Dental CEO
